2019: DEERFIELD ACADEMY, ARCHBISHOP SPALDING, AND GEORGETOWN PREP ARE CROWNED CHAMPIONS!

Session One of the National High School Lacrosse Showcase (NHSLS) concluded on Sunday, July 14th, with Deerfield Academy (MA) winning the championship over NY powerhouse, Flyers from Chaminade HS. This was Deerfield’s first NHSLS championship. Other prior winners over the tournament’s seven year existence have been the Flyers, Georgetown Prep (MD) and McDonogh School (MD).

With forty-four high school teams battling it out in Session One, just making the eight team playoff was an immense challenge. The playoff bracket was full of lacrosse powerhouse programs: Deerfield Academy (MA), Flyers (NY), McDonogh (MD), Gonzaga (DC), Culver (IN), St. Paul’s (MD), Haverford School (PA) and Calvert Hall (MD).

In Session Two, thirty teams competed over the course of three days. At the end, we had a new champion with Archbishop Spalding (MD) taking the crown. Westlake(TX) put on an impressive playoff push, but ran out of steam in the title game. Both teams displayed tremendous skills, hustle, and passion that is not always seen in summer lacrosse events.

The eight team playoff bracket for Session Two was tremendous, representing the Mid-Atlantic and Northeast regions, as well as Texas! In addition to the finalists, other playoff teams were: Mountain Lakes (NJ), Summit (NJ), Georgetown Prep(MD), Malvern Prep (PA), DeMatha (MD), and Fairport (NY).

In the second year of our JV Session, it was Georgetown Prep (MD) with an impressive victory over St. Paul’s (MD).

Congratulations to these programs and all those that participated in the 2019 NHSLS!
